Balfour Beatty Rail is a seriously impressive business that is changing the face of UK rail transport. Established more than 100 years ago, their work covers all aspects of rail infrastructure for track, electrification, civils and power supply systems.
They also have a quite remarkable fleet of specialist railway plant that is used to lay new track, repair and electrify existing track. This takes them across the world in the heat of India and the arctic conditions of Canada, Norway and Finland.
Their newest track construction trains can now lay track at nearly 1km per shift, including laying the sleepers and fitting the track itself. This is on the mainline railways, so needs to be delivered fast and the engineering, right first time.
In this recent story we wrote about how we had taken in the first of specialist railway personnel chassis for Balfour Beatty and completely refurbished them over a period of two weeks.
It’s all now back in operation, on track and looking great.
